| Environmental emphasis puts Hub, Cambridge on 'green' list
All that "green living" and pedaling hasn't been ignored. For these and other ecological efforts, Boston and Cambridge were named two of America's 50 Greenest Cities in the March issue of Popular Science magazine. The magazine used data on energy conservation from the US Census Bureau and surveys conducted by the National Geographic Society of cities with more than 100,000 people. The rankings were based on four categories - electricity; transportation; "green living," which involves the number of buildings that are certified by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, Green Building Rating System, as well as the areas devoted to public parks; and "recycling and green perspective." For the administration of Mayor Thomas Menino of Boston, the award was vindication.

I would be very interested in hearing some of the problems that are causing our state police to have to work under conditions most people would find difficult if not impossible. There are so many rules and so many people you have to be responsible to, it just doesn't seem fair...and when they ask for a little understanding, it seems that everyone thinks being a police officer means you somehow become less than human. I am finding in my research that there is far more occupational stress than stress that is felt through critical incidents. Is that true, and what would it take to make the job easier, not only for the officers, but also for the administration, I am sincerely interested in learning more. Rush Gives Up?
I'm declaring Fallows-style victory (which is not necessarily the same thing as having won). ... 10:51 P.M Maybe Jeff Jarvis is Right: I've resisted kicking Dell when it's down--I've been a relatively happy Dell customer for several years. But recently, as the viruses and spyware seemed to be winning, I've had problems with both my machines. So I phoned up Dell On Call, which offers software support that's not covered under warranty (i.e., it's support you have to pay for). The first person you get when you call the number is not an actual software technician, but rather the guy who signs you up for a plan. He quoted me a price of $239 for a year. I asked if that would include a third Dell machine if I bought one. He checked and said yes. He also--and this is the key--led me to believe the $239 would cover all my problems on those machines for the year.

Vuze executive Gilles BianRosa whose company filed one of the two FCC complaints against Comcast reportedly told the FCC yesterday that BitTorrent does not hog bandwidth. Since most Internet experts would dispute that claim, I generated the following hard data on the bandwidth consumption of various applications that run on the Internet. Note: Richard Bennett who was an expert panelist at yesterday's hearings informed me that BianRosa claimed that BitTorrent didn't exceed the contracted limit.

They are both in good form... CJ is going very well. So this is going to be a good experience. I think that neither of them has experienced a full-gas lead-out train before, so I think this is going to be a good opportunity for them to show their true colours." Whatever happens, this race also plays an important part in helping the team gel, get to know each other and to develop competitively. "To be honest, the next five days are going to be experimentation for us, learning how each of us race, where our strong points lie, and getting the lead-out train going. We will be trying different things all week as a result. We will do the lead-out train tomorrow [Monday], we might try something else out the next day. It is great race training as such; we are looking forward to it." Dean aims for yellow By Shane Stokes in Doha, Qatar As David Millar suggested, Slipstream Chipotle team-mate Julian Dean will be aiming to take the race lead from Quick Step's Matteo Tosatto on Monday.
Jim Salisbury: Phillies' Gillick not sweating about Lidge surgery
Lidge's injury led to the inevitable question of whether Myers would need to repeat his 2007 move from the starting rotation to closer. (Myers would do it, by the way.) "He's absolutely staying," Gillick said. "Why should we move him? Lidge will be back." It's probable that Gillick isn't sweating this situation because he truly believes Lidge will be back shortly after opening day. At the same time, though, he seldom sweats things. He faced a disaster when Freddy Garcia showed up hurt last spring - no one was worried about him at first, either - but kept mixing and matching until a kid named Kyle Kendrick showed up. The loss of Chase Utley in July could have been a nightmare, but Gillick mitigated that possibility with a quick acquisition of Tadahito Iguchi. So, Gillick has a pretty good record in crisis management.
