Kiraitu must be stunned as Imanyara concedes VIP slap

It would be interesting to know Mr Kiraitu Murungis honest opinion about his neighbours allegations against the First Lady.
The Energy Minister can be brutally honest. He can be trusted to talk his mind on issues angels would not dare hint to with gestures. Where it comes to handling women, whether First or Second, short or tall, willing or unwilling, friendly or hostile, the South Imenti MP boasts of an unrivalled, well documented and freely shared authority.
That is why it is reasonable to bet he will likely be penning down another poem about his Central Imenti counterpart, Mr Gitobu Imanyara. Never mind where the truth lies about the alleged altercation with Mama Jimmy. As a genuinely creative mind, it is not beyond Kiraitu to evince what might or might not have happened. If he remains loyal to his imaginative or reflective muse, he might want to title his next verse Slaps and State House or Fighting a Submissive Woman.

Pressure mounts on Speaker amid complaints over his expenses

Martin, who became speaker of the Commons in 2000 after the retirement of the popular Betty Boothroyd, found himself under pressure after disclosures over the weekend. These included:

· The resignation of his spokesman, the veteran Whitehall communications chief Mike Granatt, after he admitted that he had unwittingly misled the Mail on Sunday over £4,000 taxi expenses incurred by the speaker's wife, Mary. Granatt blamed unnamed officials, but not the speaker, for falsely informing him that the expenses were legitimate because Martin's wife had been accompanied by an official on shopping trips to buy food for receptions. It turned out that she had been accompanied by her housekeeper.

· Claims in two Sunday newspapers that Martin claimed £17,166 last year towards the cost of his Glasgow constituency home, on which he no longer pays a mortgage.

Shutterbug prompts border concerns

LANGLEY, B.C. - It's probably not wise to take photographs of border crossings in countries ruled by military governments. Now a visiting Costa Rican student has learned it's a bad idea in Canada, too.

The 17-year-old was surrounded by RCMP officers in Langley, B.C. on Sunday afternoon following reports from the Canadian Border Services Agency that a suspicious man on a bicycle was taking pictures of the U.S. crossing.

Officers took no chances because the unprotected border at Aldergrove, southeast of Vancouver, is frequently used for drug, gun and immigrant smuggling.

The teen, who has limited English, provided several photos of the Aldergrove crossing but couldn't produce his Costa Rican passport, visitor's visa or the telephone number or address where he was staying.

Double X was born on this date in 1907 in Sudlersville, MD. Foxx was considered to be the best right handed hitter ever, and one of the games most feared sluggers. Lefty Gomez once said of Foxx Hes got muscles in his hair! He was sought out by both the Yankees and As, and ultimately signed with Connie Macks club. He made his debut with the As in 1925 at the age of 17. His breakout year was in 1929 when he hit .354 and 33 home runs. He was back to back MVP in 1932 and 1933, winning the Triple Crown in 1933. With the Great Depression on full swing, Connie Mack had to sell Foxxs contract in 1936 to the Boston Red Sox for $150,000. Foxx had four incredible seasons with the Sox. In 1937 Foxx hit a ball into the third deck of the left-field stands at Yankee Stadium in, a very rare feat because of the distance and the angle of the stands.

And then, just one segment into the four-hour show, he abruptly up and left.

No one's sure where Williams had been. But now we know where he was headed—down a dangerous, dark detour toward self-destruction. One that, according to multiple sources, ultimately landed him in rehab for a cocaine problem. One that, undeniably, has thrust his career in jeopardy, his co-workers in limbo and his countless loyal listeners into a passionate debate about his fate.

"I've got a lot of fences to mend," Williams said last week from his Turtle Creek condo. "I had the world by the balls, and I just pissed on it."

Speaking in strained, guarded tones, Williams declined to discuss the specifics of his six-week absence. In his first public comments since bailing in mid-syllable, he confirmed only that he's now void of drugs, full of regret and buoyed by hope that he'll be welcomed back to the 3 p.m.
