| The Other Side of the Felt, Vol. 1: Road to the WSOP
I have always said that I have the best job in the world. Being a tournament director has given me the opportunity to see the world, meet my beautiful wife, Maryann (which resulted in the birth of my son in 2006), and meet thousands of interesting people along the way. In 1997, I was dealing at Bay 101 Casino and I developed carpal tunnel syndrome in my left hand. I never could have known then that was the best break in my career. I loved dealing and was happy doing it, so I might not have ever quit, but because of the CTS I had to go on the floor to pay the bills. I eventually filled in for the vacationing tournament director and loved it right away. I had a real passion for .
Paranoid son jailed for 8 years for manslaughter
Kenneth John McDermott was originally charged with murder but the court found he had diminished responsibility at the time of the killing. It did not give him a defence to unlawful killing but it did give him a defence to a murder charge. McDermott, 42, of the Gold Coast, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Kevin Walter McDermott, on August 31, 2003. Today, Justice John Byrne sentenced McDermott to eight years jail with a recommendation he be eligible to apply for parole after serving three years. He declared the 775 days McDermott had spent on remand as time served on the sentence. Prosecutor Todd Fuller said the matter had a lengthy history before both the Mental Health Court and the Court of Appeal. He said McDermott, who was suffering from depression at the time, visited his estranged father, stepmother and half sister and half brother at a property at Harlin, northwest of Brisbane near Kilcoy.
Coalition Conduct in the Ground War
Unlike Coalition air forces, American and British ground forces used cluster munitions extensively in populated areas. Human Rights Watch found evidence of ground-launched submunitions (known as grenades) in residential neighborhoods across the country, including in Basra, al-Hilla, Karbala', al-Najaf, and Baghdad. A military list of duds reported after the war shows that the use of these weapons was widespread along the battle route to Baghdad, including in and around other populated areas.237 While these strikes were directed at Iraqi military targets, the weapons' inaccuracy, broad footprints, and large numbers of submunitions caused hundreds of civilian casualties. Use of Cluster Munitions Coalition use of ground-launched cluster munitions far outstripped the use of air-dropped models.
TV's Workout Queen takes Aim at Your Diet
I do know that instead of crunches you do bicycles. start with knees up so lower leg is parallel to floor with the upper leg at a 90-degree angle, hands behind head. bring elbow up and opposite knee down to meet while extending the other leg and without lowering your upper body back to floor, you do the same thing with the other elbow right elbow to left knee with right leg extended; lower upper body (but not to floor) then left elbow to right knee, extend left knee….like the motion of pedaling a bicycle. The modified mule kick was like a mule kick hands and knees at floor, back flat. lift one knee off the floor, straighten leg behind you adn lift (while tightening ab muscles) and then instead of going back to the floor, you take your knee back down and then out to the side…you really feel this in your rear! then lower it and repeat.
Outdoors Notebook: Tag program for striped bass off to good start
So three of the tagged fish were caught on conventional "J" hooks, and the other three were caught on circle hooks. Only one of the J-hook-caught fish was deep-hooked. "We were able to remove the hook with no problems, and the fish appeared to be in great shape," Graves said. "All the other fish were hooked in the corner of the mouth." Graves, who has used similar tags in his white marlin research, said the remaining four tags likely will be in fish by the start of today's Super Bowl. The tags record information on fish movement and depth in the water. In 30 days, the tags pop off the device implanted into the fish, rising to the surface and transmitting information to a satellite. Sometimes the tags are found and turned in by anglers, resulting in more data.
Carty: It's time for Rodriguez to apologize and pay up
When the University of Michigan began looking for a new football coach in November, it's safe to say a man the general public ranks with coaching bad boy Nick Saban wouldn't have been high on its list. Yet comparisons between the carpetbagging Alabama coach and new Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez have been pretty common on talk radio and the Internet over the past few days. Let's say this up front: Rodriguez is not Saban. He did not insist again and again that he'd never take the Michigan job, then skulk out of town when millions were put on the table, as Saban did with Alabama when he was coaching the Miami Dolphins. Rodriguez hasn't bolted three straight jobs after short stints, in each case leaving when someone waved more money at him. That's not to say Rodriguez doesn't deserve some grief.
