Now more than ever, it seems plastic surgery is a necessary evil for Hollywooders hoping to stay in the spotlight. Everybody's having something lifted or removed or plumped. There's no such thing as a natural beauty. It is drivers with this attitude who make the roads dangerous, not cyclists like me.Wendy Byrne, CorvallisLots of considerate motorists, bicyclistsAs cycling season starts to heat up, it seems that the rhetoric between some motorists and cyclists does as well.This is unfortunate, because the vast majority of confrontations seem to be caused by relatively simple misunderstandings.By law, we all have a right to the roads and an obligation to follow the rules, even if some people don't like bikes and some don't like cars.We all pay taxes. Although there are vehicle use fees, most road funding is provided for by general taxes, property assessments, and the like. Besides, few cyclists don't also drive cars.To be certain, being held up behind a bicycle can be annoying.But how often do you get stuck behind someone who insists on turning left across a busy lane of traffic rather than continuing to a light or holding up an entire line of cars to wait for a parking spot?Anyone who drives into blind corners and other situations faster than he can react will eventually encounter a line of vehicles stopped for construction/accident, a kid running out to get a ball or on a bike, large debris, farm equipment, someone turning out of a driveway he didn't know was there, or a number of other common situations.Likewise, anyone who regularly blows through lights and stop signs on a bicycle will eventually cause an accident.As good luck would have it, there are a lot of considerate drivers and cyclists out there who practice defensive driving/cycling.Kyle Banerjee, MonmouthLet's talk solutions, not debate scienceJohn Jones ("Climate change has occurred in the past," Letters, Feb.
Obama's Wrang-Wrang
Is Obama Deval Patrick II? Obama didn't steal the words of his buddy Deval Patrick, governor of Massachusetts. He borrowed them. OK. But what are the other similarities between Obama and Patrick? The two pols have a lot in common even aside from shared rhetoric. Has Patrick's term been a success, or has it been a cautionary example of a promising, race-transcendant Democrat squandering his mandate by governing as a hack interest-group liberal? 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Review - In Carbon County Wyoming
Though some have complained about blind spots because of the closed rear side panel, I found the outside rear view mirrors so good as to mitigate that blind-spot problem. And, the complaints of some reviewers about the cute, half-size, rear-hinged, rear passenger doors being restrictive is a bit overcritical, I think. It certainly is a big step up and into the less-than-roomy rear seat, but unless you regularly haul folks back there it would probably not be an issue. So, let's wrap this up. In just our few days in Carbon County we've explored two mountain ranges and at least three world-class trout streams, drank beer and discovered characters (including an old cowboy singer) at six great old rustic bars, 4-wheeled up the side of a mountain and down into an otherwise inaccessible mountain valley in our remarkably competent Toyota FJ, relaxed at two beautiful alpine lakes, scorched my uvula on the hottest green chili in Wyoming, overnighted at some amazing inns, met dozens of fascinating people, encountered thousands of pronghorn antelope and one solitary bald eagle, and learned all about Carbon County, Wyoming.

Strong dramas about the issues that plagued an Egypt in transition were a cry for help to the authorities and dealt with problems like the housing crunch and drug cartels. With the relative increase in freedom of expression experienced under President Mubarak, hard-hitting films about the corruption of businessmen and government officials could come out every once in a while. In the 1990s the number of films produced remained low, but some did try to make a difference. Actor Hussein Fahmy attempted to use the Cairo International Film Festival, which he headed from 1998 to 2002, to improve the image of Egyptian cinema. Apart from inviting international celebrities like Alain Delon, John Malkovich and Danny Glover to the annual event, he tried to bring in new technology by introducing a trade fair on the fringe of the festival where manufacturers could exhibit their new and improved cinema gadgets.

Well Sparkplug here's your opportunity to do one thing right...resign. If not, I can only hope the Governor's office will be contacted with a request to remove you from the School Board. If you don't like that scenario, well you have pretty much played out your sad, tired, and phony defense of "I don't remember". The same defense used by Abbot and Steve "Mr. No Show" Donovan. Get yourself an attorney, the District won't help you on this one should you want to fight it. Fight it or resign, the disgrace and shame that you have brought upon yourself, your wife and your family will stay with you forever. Have a nice life, Sparkplug.
Estate sales: Adventure to the past
Rogers, a bargain hunter herself, bought her two-bedroom, two-bath house nine years ago in Shadow Lakes for $61,500. The house overlooks a retention pond that is also a bird sanctuary. "I had spent a wonderful year when I was in high school with an aunt and uncle who lived in Clearwater," she recalls. "After that I always wanted to live in Florida. I'm just one of those people who loves Florida." Rogers, who is divorced, lives with her two dogs, Beau, a black lab/Great Dane mix, and Squeaky, a boxer/terrier mix she rescued while volunteering at the Pasco Animal Welfare Society thrift shop in New Port Richey. "I walk my dogs almost every day in Starkey Park," she says. Animals and the environment are of great importance to her: She is a supporter of such groups as Pasco Wildlife Inc.
