Brothels In Islamabad
Also, let he who has not sinned cast the first stone. If you are pure, honest and clean then you go and stone people. If people have committed immoral or sinful acts let Allah punish them. We are too little to make such decisions. Sania Saeed, Pakistan "Apply Holy Koran What Maulana Ghazi or what the Govenment Or what the readers says is not important - what is important is what the Holy Koran says and correct me if I am wrong - the verdict in Holy Koran for adultory is to be " Stoned to death ". That's it. The wisest of the wise do not debate the holy Koran with if's and but's but implement it unflichingly. Salman Malik, Pakistan" Salman Malik, the Holy Quran is a great book, but remember Allah has given you another amazing gift...your brain. Please use it. To blindly follow scripture without using logic and reason is stupidity, not religion.
Holy Cross head resigns in dispute with chairman of governors
THE principal of top-ranking Holy Cross College has resigned after a dispute with the chairman of governors. Mr Mike O'Hare will step down in August after being in charge of the Catholic sixth-form centre for 15 years, during which time it has become one of the best in the country. His shock resignation follows an argument with Anne Fox, chairman of the board of governors, about the appointment of a deputy principal in May last year. Mr O'Hare disagreed with the selection committee's preferred candidate, and wrote to Ms Fox about his concerns. He also discussed the matter with staff at the college in Manchester Road. But Ms Fox claimed that he had breached confidentiality by speaking to the staff members and issued a written warning.

Teen 'beggar' kills Pakistan's surgeon general in suicide attack
A teenage boy allegedly dressed as a beggar blew himself up Monday near a military vehicle carrying the Pakistani Army's surgeon general; seven other people also were killed. Meanwhile, gunmen burst into the offices of a British-based aid group in northwest Pakistan, shooting four local staffers to death and burning down their building. The assaults, both blamed on Islamic extremists, were the most serious outbreak of violence since parliamentary elections a week ago, in which the ruling party affiliated with President Pervez Musharraf was routed by two main opposition parties. In the attack that killed Lt. Gen. Mushtaq Ahmed Baig, the army's top medical officer, the "beggar" approached the general's car on foot on a busy street in the garrison town of Rawalpindi, authorities said.
Dispatch / Our Woman in Thailand -- in Cambodia
She left Feb. 9 for two weeks in Thailand, with a side trip to Cambodia. Backpacking, staying in hostels, meeting scruffy travelers, chugging cheap beer, hanging on the beach ... And changing the diapers of her 8-month-old child, Sophia (who turned 9 months during the trip.) At least her husband, sculptor Tim Kaulen, tagged along to help. Suzanne asked us: "Don't you think people will want to read the travel journal of a 40-year-old tattooed woman taking her infant daughter to walk around Cambodian ruins and attend a two-day Thai Buddhist wedding of my friend from college?" We agreed. Updates have been appearing regularly in this space. Suzanne, by the way, is a Pittsburgh native who returned to the city in 2000. She launched the American Shorts Reading Series in 2003 and now works at Social Innovation Accelerator, which bolsters nonprofit organizations.
Canada's combat training role could take years
Stephane Lafaut, the outgoing head of the OMLT, said it's impossible to put a timeline on when the Afghan army will be able to stand on its own. "I have almost 25 years of experience and it's hard for me, and even for my bosses who are more experienced than myself, to put a date. So I don't know who can put a date," he said. "We're talking about years. How much time really it is going to take, we're not sure." The Afghan army presence in Kandahar has almost tripled since Canadians began working alongside its soldiers in 2006. There are now two full Kandaks - an Afghan battalion of about 600 men - in operation, plus a third that the military says is well on its way. Eventually, the goal is to have five Kandaks fully operational in the province, about 3,000 soldiers.
Soldiers at Walter Reed Deserve Better
So private citizens are not only giving soldiers the gear they need to fight this war — everything from body armor to parts for helicopters — they are now helping mend and care for those same soldiers, because the government cannot or will not. Come on; get angry! Rant and throw things; this really is worth turning away from blondes and lawyers on TV. On February 21, when asked at a press conference if anyone was being fired for this mess, the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army said, "No." Well, "no" means that this travesty is guaranteed to happen again and again. We cannot win wars by treating our soldiers like this, and we might deserve to lose if you — yeah, you reading this — do not care enough to do something. We are a great nation, but we are diminished by this.
